October 28th, 2009 — 12:23am | Author : feen

Onioning is one of our favorite services. At Onioning you can ask questions to other users and receive questions. Also, you can answer daily questions that make you know more about people you choose. New features are coming out recently and, if you have tried it a long time ago, give it a try again! You can learn more about the team trough the interview below. Also, you can read our review or visit their website.

Anggackt: From where did the idea of a Questions and Answers network come from?
MJ: I really wanted to communicate with my friends (asking something, or just tell them something), but I couldn’t find one. Twitter is all about me (not talking to each other). Facebook is kind of heavy and difficult. So I decided to develop one that I want.
The service should be unique, so I eliminated “telling something” part that twitter already provides. That leaves me with no choice but to have service just asking qusetions and getting answers.
I may boring, so I searched something fun. And “Rolling Paper” come up in my mind (It’s not english. We, koreans, called it that way). When I was in middle or high school, we used to write down some fun questions and each of us write the answers on the paper without printing name. After that we roll those answer sheets and read the answers guessing whose answer sheet that was.
That gives me a hint to add “daily questions” as fun element of the service.

Anggackt: Why is the service named Onioning?
MJ: Getting to know someone is never ending story, like peeling onions. You’ll see the other side of him/her after you thought you knew someone throughly. That’s where the “Onioning” came from.

Anggackt: How does Onioning behave when trying to stay different and unique among other services?
MJ: To stay unique, we’ll focus on
1. mutual communication
2. meaningful data even time passes.
3. easy & fun

Anggackt: Does Onioning have a goal? Is there a mission behind it?
MJ: Our goal is to help people to communicate easily and to know their friends and families better.
Sometimes it’s quite difficult to talk to someone close, but using our service you can eaily ask questions without burden.

Anggackt: What are the features that are coming? (Well, the ones you can share with us)
MJ: We are working on inviting friends from facebook and myspace.
After that we’ll implement the “asking a questions to multiple friends”.
After that we don’t have any orders yet, but some lists are;
- Answer the same quesitons on the other user’s profile that you think interesting.
- Ask the same questions on the other user’s profile to your friends.
- Voting best Q&A
- Live broadcasting page for latest Q&A from anyone.
- Displaying latest 2~3 lines of tweets if the user setup the connection with twitter
Which one do you like most in above list? If you like to have any other features, please let us know.

Anggackt: What do you think of Onioning’s chance in the up and coming competition with other services that offering the same Q&A based social networking?
MJ: Hmm… It depends on who builds bigger network first. And the services who gives more benefits to users will grow faster.
We already started, adds user oriented features and concentrate on marketing, so we’ll build bigger network before competitor comes. :)
