Nurphy – Person to Person(s)
Taken directly from Nurphy landing page, their own definition for Nurphy
Conversations with your friends & contacts are what matter the most, and that’s what Nurphy does best. Send a message to just one person and easily turn it in to a public or private conversation with multiple participants
Okay, I have to tell you the truth, the definition gives a slight hope of something fresh and new. So without further ado, a review from Anggackt for Nurphy.
I. Landing Page
- Sign-Up Required: Yes
- Registration Method: Manual
II. Dashboard
Your dashboard will be your main place to maintain all of the conversation you participate in. You will not have to worry about the avatar as Nurphy supported Gravatar. You could also set-up your preference whether you are opened for a conversation or not.
III. Features
You could start a conversation just by clicking the start conversation button.
- Nurphy way of adding friends to start a conversation is pretty weird. You will have to manually search the intended person and start conversation with him/her for the first time. After that, he/she will automatically added to your friend list for future conversation, or you could simply start an empty conversation and wait until someone joins you.
- An ability to choose whether the conversation would be private, public or exclusive (Only invited person will be able to involved in the conversation, while non-invited one will act as a reader, example case : an online interview with a celebrity)
- eMail – Nurphy conversation, vice versa.
- No grouping ability
- No tagging for conversation room, which means, finding a room to join in is impossible aside from using the recommended one from Nurphy
After you are done with the start a conversation screen, you will be redirected to the dashboard again with your started conversation. Click it to start your conversation.
- The ability to change your conversation room privacy setting in the middle of a conversation
- Pop-up the conversation in a new window option
- The ability to add someone else into the conversation
- And last but not least, direct joining a conversation room if it is opened to public
- An URL for the conversation to send out to your Friends through various means, but currently the only automatic one is through Twitter
- Tab notification for new message
- Semi Real-Time conversation through automatic refreshing to grab new message
- No character counter
- I prefer edit rather than the strike-out feature to conceal a message
- No moderation feature for conversation starter
- Once you changed the privacy setting, there’s no way to go back
- No option from Public to Private
IV. Verdict
Nurphy , although not as fresh as I would thought, is now my current favorite for conversation. It’s simple and lite interface is my main motivation to choose Nurphy over others.
