October 16th, 2009 — 12:40am | Author : Anangga Pratama

Thingd is a new social app focused on the things in your life. Something like a combination between social networking, list of your stuff and your [put your function here] list. Here is some short point to point explanation of how Thingd works :

  • organize your things
  • share them with your friends
  • discover new things
  • buy and sell with ease

I. Landing Page

Thingd - Landing Page

I think you could already guessed what is the meaning of this simple landing page, Fast to load.

Currently Thingd is still in private beta, so what are you waiting for ? sign up for their beta invitation.

II. Dashboard

Thingd - Dashboard

The dashboard is pretty straight forward and I think you won’t need a steep learning curve just to understand the dashboard function. A minor problem arise though, and the problem involved a transparent PNG avatar image again. I really wonder why many web app doesn’t fully support transparent PNG avatar/profile picture on their beta launch ?

III. Features

You can add your list category by just clicking the “Add” link to the right of My List heading.

To started to add things to your list category of choice is pretty simple, although a little bit hidden. Just click on the search input box and start typing your chosen things. Don’t worry if your thing is not listed, you could add it to Thingd library just by clicking “add to my things” to your search result.

And after that, you could easily edit your just added thing to give a full detail about it. At this point, I really don’t know what happened, but I have to repeatedly clicking the upload image button to make the file chooser window opened.

A great feature added to Thingd is the feature to search the stuff from either eBay or Amazon for a chance for you to buy the stuff. You could also send your thing to either Facebook, Twitter or email.

IV. Verdict

A very nice stuff listing from Thingd. You could extend the use of this application to track the things you lend or borrow, adding your own wish list or many other function that I don’t yet explored. For the time being, Thingd is my choice for my stuff listing method.
