PicTreat – Everybody’s Perfect
An automatic photo fixer is what I would like to address PicTreat. Boasting the ability to make your skin smooth and shiny, removes irritating skin flaws, remove red-eyes and auto correct colors. Since I’m way too photograph-art blind for this review, I think it is more appropriate if I ask advice from my fiancee, who is an avid amateur photographer for her input about the features and the verdict.
I. Landing Page
I like the overall look for the landing page, although it is not too special, especially the flash component which I don’t like at all. You don’t have to register to start retouching your image, but you won’t get the full resolution result. To get the full resolution result, you can either register manually or using Facebook connect / MySpaceID .
II. Features
Registering with you Facebook account will automatically brings you to a submit picture screen starting with your Facebook account album photo collection.
Let’s try choosing one and let see what PicTreat offered for their image retouching.
Seems like there’s only two option available there. Let’s try by using the “This is a Mobile Phone Photo” to auto correct the colors and soften it a bit to remove skin flaws.
The resulting image is having a better contrast compared to the inputted picture, but unfortunately, the pimples still exist there. Although the resulting image is having a better contrast, my fiancee still thinks that it still need to be tweaked a little bit, but alas, there’s no option for any tweaking aside from a feedback if you do not satisfy with the resulting image.
As my fiancee tried the red-eye reduction, the amount of reduction PicTreat can generate is not that good, another hint for a tweaked version. She tried again with different picture to test the pimple elimination, the result is disappointing, there are a lot of pimples still left on her face, although now it’s more soft looking.
III. Verdict
PicTreat is a nice service with a great capability of doing some automated image retouching. Too bad, lack of result tweaking is making PicTreat kind of limited. Although I agree that a “One Click” service is needed, it is also nice to make a custom tweak option if a user intended to tweak a bit of their image retouching result.
Credits to : Gonggo, my fiancee, for testing out this application and giving some thought and feedback for this article.
