TwitWho – Twitter Directory

October 3rd, 2009 — 9:33pm | Author : Anangga Pratama

A directory for Twitter user that deserves some followers, something like that. I think this kind of service is a good addition to Twitter since with this, a user can directly know which Twitterers deserves some following, since an indexed Twitter user-name must comply to a very strict moderation that I will mentioned , right after this.

I. Landing Page

TwitWho Landing Page

As you can see, the landing page is very simple and straight forward. The loading time needed to load the page is nearly none, which is very good regarding TwitWho directory indexing purpose. What I like most is the TwitWho font which, incidentally bearing the same style as my band official font.

As you may already guess, the registration is very simple with a connection to Twitter.

II. Dashboard/Feature

There is really no dashboard in TwitWho, unless you are a moderator perhaps. So why need a registration / log-in ? It is useful if you want to start to follow a Twitter user you think deserves of some following or to manage your group. To start following a user, you don’t have to click on their user-name, there’s a Follow button already available there.

Wait a second, manage a group ? so is that an indication that everyone can make a group ? how can we know that the group is a verified non-spammer ?  Relax, TwitWho will never ever put user created group under the directory. It is just for your personal use to make a better grouping of user whom you are following.

If you want your Twitter account to be putted inside the directory, you have to comply to this pretty much heavy requirements :

  • No any advertisement, SPAM, or pornography.
  • You should have at least: 1000 followers, and 100 tweets.
  • The profiles/services must have English language content, and be described in English.

1000 followers is not an easy task, unless, of course , you are using a certain service to add some followers with the cost of re-following other people, which is not recommended by me, unless you love spam. This is the main reason I abandoned my @apratama and started @anggackt (thanks to feen idea). I used that certain service with the purpose of making a review and added as much followers as I can, it turns out to be the most horrifying nightmare I’ve ever got in my whole life.

All in all, this service will be a great service to use in the future. Not to mention the easy to navigate directory. I just hoped that the moderator will perfectly manage those categories so finding a user based on a certain category will be a breeze.

Oh, and add some advance search feature and would it be possible for a directory based on language if there’s already a moderator available for that certain language ? Since there are a lot of good news site that using another language (the English only requirement is pretty much…yeah, limited)
