GifSoup – Youtube 2 Gif
I was pretty much shocked when I heard of this web app. A YouTube Video to animated gif converter ? this explanation is enough to makes me go “Whaaat ?” . Imagine a 5 Minutes YouTube video converted into an animated gif….., doesn’t really makes sense, at least for me.
The only logical explanation is would be that the videos will be cut into the first few seconds. But that is only a theory by me. So without further ado, let’s try this thing out.
The loading page is not that good in my own opinion, it is fast but…I don’t know, I just went “Meh..” the first time I saw it, but again it is all about taste, every different person will think differently from one. There’s a list of newest YouTube to Gif converted video, but luckily it’s static.
So let’s try by converting a video. I just picked a random video, the New Moon trailer, a sequel for Twilight, which I haven’t watched yet. I’m not a big fan of movies.
After clicking “Create”, you will be transferred to a “downloading video to server” screen for editing purpose.
And voila, now you can edit the clip to decide which part of it you want to convert into animated GIF (maximum 10 seconds).
Click finish, and you got your animated GIF ready to download with three different size and an embed code directly from GifSoup. As simple as that.

So what do I think about this app ? It is a highway to an easier YouTube to animated GIF converter. Yes, there is a desktop software alternative out there, but GifSoup doesn’t need any download or installation and it’s free (with the price of just a small watermark on the right side of your generated animated GIF). Go for it and try it for yourself.
