Pingdom, Test Your Loading Time

I sometimes wonder how’s the performance of my front page loading time. Whether it is too slow or just your average loading time.

Thanks to this post , I’ve been able to know how is my website loading performance for the front page or specified page.  The service called it self Pingdom.

Web Hosting Comparison

There is this case when a friend of mine is really confused for which hosting company will give you the most cheap solution ever for a dedicated server for his -soon to come- own new hosting company. He doesn’t care anything at all about the service or any other thing. He is the “I’m not a tech-savvy, just give me the cheapest solution” – kind of guy. Only two easy requirement :

  1. Cheap.
  2. And managed by the service providers.

Check Username Availabilty

Sometimes, just choosing an available user-name in some social networking site really took my time. It’s pretty much annoying when your chosen and favorite user-name is already taken by someone.

I was always wondered whether is there any application that let me check my favorite user-name availability in some social networking site. Just in case the user-name is already taken, I can make a measurement in what kind of user-name I should use in the registration page of  the corresponding website.

Untiny Those Tiny URL

The main reason why the URL shortening service available to use is to shorten those long URL into an easy, short URL for posting purpose or a footnote source for article written in a magazine/newspaper.

But, alas, some people started to use the services for another purpose. In Indonesia, the most common purpose for URL shortening service is for hiding the referral URL that can be used to trick unsuspected victim and redirect them to a referral easy-but fake-money making site (along with their user-name as a referral).
